US Special Envoy for Best Future Generations Charles J. Harder and US Ambassador to Dhaka Brent T. Christensen, along with other members of the delegation, were present at an event organized by Survi on Sunday (April 19). Its main goal is to strengthen partnerships in the education and health sectors to build a brighter future for children.

Initiatives related to children’s healthcare, food security, improved sanitation (WASH), and child protection are currently receiving special importance in the bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and the United States.

Suravi’s founder Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu welcomed the US delegation. She was accompanied by the Prime Minister’s wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman. Shahina Khan Zaman and other officials of the organization were also present. The US delegation visited the school to recognize Suravi’s long-standing work in inclusive education and child development.

During this time, the Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF) organized a free health care program for students in the school premises. More than 300 children were examined for eye, dental and common childhood diseases in this medical camp.

The ZRF delegation included the organization’s Vice President Dr. Zubayda Rahman, Executive Director Professor Farhad Halim Doner, Director Professor Morshed Hasan Khan, Barrister Zaima Rahman, Dr. Mostafa Aziz Sumon and Dr. Aman Ullah.

The program showcased the institutional activities and contributions of Suravi and ZRF through two documentaries. Later, the participants discussed various aspects of working together in the future in the education and child health sectors.

Prime Minister’s Advisor Mahdi Amin was also present at the event. His presence reflects the government’s deep interest and goodwill in the welfare and development of children.

Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu founded ‘Suravi’ on February 1, 1979 with just one student. In the last 46 years, this organization has provided quality education to about 2.8 million underprivileged children. Inspired by the philosophy of Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu’s poem ‘Jharapata’, the main goal of this organization is to develop dropout children into worthy citizens.

Those concerned said that this collaboration between local and international organizations will play an effective role in ensuring a healthy and prosperous future for the next generation of Bangladesh.
