According to the Department of Health, data on dengue cases and deaths has been recorded in Bangladesh since 2000. Of these, 2023 was the worst. Last year, i.e. 2025, there was a noticeable outbreak of dengue, where more than four hundred people lost their lives.
Health experts say the rate of deaths and infections at the start of the year is worrying. The situation is likely to worsen during the monsoon season if effective steps are not taken now to control the Aedes mosquito.
