  • Israeli attacks on Gaza continue despite ceasefire

    Despite the ceasefire, the Israeli aggression in Gaza continues. Two Palestinians were killed and four were injured in the attack by the occupation forces again. Another Palestinian teenager was injured in the West Bank. Meanwhile, the Palestinian independence movement Hamas has made it clear that all the conditions of the first phase must be fully implemented in order to move to the second phase of ceasefire talks.

    Although a ceasefire is in effect in the Gaza Strip, Israeli attacks and shelling continue unabated.

    On Sunday (April 19), the occupation forces attacked the Deir al-Balah and Jabalia refugee camps in northern Gaza, causing casualties.

    According to authorities, Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement nearly 2,400 times since it came into effect, killing many people and injuring thousands.

    In this situation, the Palestinian independence movement Hamas has stated that in order to move to the second phase of ceasefire negotiations, all the conditions of the first phase must be fully implemented.

    Although the organization has participated in talks with Egypt and other mediators, Hamas has accused Israel of repeatedly breaking the agreement and not adhering to key conditions such as troop withdrawal and redeployment, leaving the ceasefire process in limbo.

    Gaza has been witnessing widespread loss of life and destruction since the war began in October 2023. The entire infrastructure has been damaged. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, 773 Palestinians have been killed and 2,171 injured in ongoing ceasefire violations so far.

    Tehran has signaled that the biggest obstacle to rejoining peace efforts is Islamabad’s move to lift US blockades on Iranian ports.

    A senior Iranian official said before the two-week ceasefire expired that Tehran was positively reviewing its participation, but no final decision had been made yet.

    Iran had previously announced its withdrawal from the second round of talks and had also vowed to retaliate for the US aggression.

    Meanwhile, an Iranian official said that mediator Pakistan is making positive efforts to end the US blockade of Iranian ports and ensure Iranian participation.

    Earlier on Sunday, Tehran vowed revenge and refused to join talks after the United States said it had seized an Iranian cargo ship that was trying to break its blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, putting the ceasefire in jeopardy.

    On the other hand, President Donald Trump has already announced the departure of a US delegation to Islamabad. Pakistan has also announced its extensive preparations.
