Sitting for more than 30 minutes at a time may increase risk of cancer death: Study
A new study has found that spending more than 30 minutes continuously sitting or lying down (while awake) may increase the risk of dying from cancer.

The study, which monitored the lifestyles of more than 91,000 people for more than a decade, found that being inactive (sitting or lying down) for more than 30 minutes a day increased the risk of dying from cancer.

Even increasing this type of inactive time by one hour per day increases the risk by another 10 percent.
However, researchers say that small amounts of physical activity every 30 minutes, such as walking for a few minutes, can help reduce this risk.
