Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is on death row in India for crimes against humanity, says she will return home in December and surrender to the court. However, political analysts see Sheikh Hasina’s statement as a ‘political stand-off’ and ‘BNP’s post-Eid movement’.
Analysts say that if Sheikh Hasina returns to the country, all the July parties, including BNP-Jamaat-NCP, will unite. In 16 years, the Awami League has become a consumerist party.
Most leaders and activists will not return to the country after leaving their luxurious lives abroad. On the other hand, international power is not behind Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League.
So Sheikh Hasina will not take such a big risk as returning to the country.
