Dhaka: A meeting of the National Standing Committee, the highest policy-making forum of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has begun.
The meeting began at 8pm on Saturday (July 11) at the party chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, the capital.
BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is presiding over the meeting.
According to party sources, the meeting is being held to discuss the country’s current political situation, the progress of the government’s development activities, important national issues, the party’s organizational status, and determine the future course of action.
Present at the meeting were standing committee members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.
