Drone factory to be built in Bogra with Turkish assistance: State Minister

Bangladesh’s State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mir Shahe Alam, has said that a drone manufacturing factory will be set up in Bogra, a northern district of Bangladesh, with the assistance of Turkey.

He said that Bogra was deprived of development for a long time due to political reasons.

The government is implementing necessary projects to fill that gap. The government’s goal is to ensure Bogra’s deserved development, not additional benefits compared to other districts.
He made this statement at the ‘BSRF Dialogue’ organized by the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) at the Secretariat’s media center on Thursday (July 9).

The dialogue, chaired by BSRF President Masudul Haque, was moderated by General Secretary Ubaidullah Badal.

State Minister Mir Shahe Alam said, “There has been no major development in Bogra for a long time. The condition of roads, bridges and infrastructure was fragile.”

The people of the district were not properly represented in government jobs either. To change that situation, he has taken the initiative to implement development projects by coordinating with various ministries.
The state minister said that a drone factory will be built in Bogra with the cooperation of Turkey. The Prime Minister said in his question-and-answer session in Parliament that a drone manufacturing factory will be built in Bogra in a joint venture with Turkey. The plan to establish a drone industry in a joint venture with Turkey will also be implemented centered on the air base under construction in Bogra.

He said that work is underway to upgrade the Bogra Airport, established during the Pakistan period, to international standards. At the same time, approval has been given to establish the first air force base in the northern region there. New fighter jets will be added to the base in the future.
