Ahsan Habib has been appointed as the acting chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR). He is currently serving as the member (Tax Administration and Human Resource Management) of the NBR.
Md. Abdur Rahman Khan is currently serving as the chairman of NBR.
The government issued a notification in this regard on Monday (June 29).
Ahsan Habib previously served as a member of the National Board of Revenue and Director General of the Central Intelligence Cell (CIC).
He is an officer of the 15th BCS (Tax) cadre.
He secured first place in his first class from the Department of Geology, Dhaka University. He also secured first place in his cadre in the 15th BCS examination.
During his career, he also served as the Commissioner of Tax Region-15. While serving as the Director General of the Central Intelligence Cell, he conducted several high-profile investigations related to tax evasion and financial irregularities.
Apart from this, Ahsan Habib also played an important role in the initiative to collect outstanding taxes from the online gambling platform ‘UlkaGames’.
