After a 10-day ultimatum to rescue Jagannath University’s Abdur Rahman Hall and Shaheed Nazrul Islam Hall, the university branch of the Chhatra Dal has given the university administration five more days to find the necessary documents by holding a press conference.
The press conference was held in front of the university’s Bhashahid Rafiq Bhaban on Sunday afternoon. Earlier, on March 31, the ruling party’s student organization organized a hall rescue program and gave the administration a 10-day deadline.
At the press conference, university branch Chhatra Dal convener Mehedi Hasan Himel said, “It is the right of students to go to the halls. Even after August 5, there has been no progress in rescuing the halls. The new administration has come, we have sought their cooperation in rescuing the halls. In addition, we have spoken to the member of parliament from Dhaka-7 constituency and the vice-chancellor of Jagannath University. The administration has asked for time to find the necessary documents for the halls, we have asked them to inform us within five days. A deadline will be set for rescuing the halls as soon as possible.”
“Jagannath University is a university established by Begum Khaleda Zia. For this, the former leaders of the campus have worked in the interest of the university. We will also work for the overall development of the campus,” said the Chhatra Dal leader.
