Speaker of the National Assembly Hafizuddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram) met with Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of the country Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf during his visit to Iran.
During the meeting, Speaker Ghalibaf welcomed the visit of the Bangladesh delegation to Tehran to attend the state funeral of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this information on Friday (July 3).
Bangladesh Speaker Hafizuddin Ahmed expressed deep grief over the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and condemned the incident.
He expressed the solidarity of the Bangladesh government and people with the government and people of Iran during this time of national mourning.
During the meeting, he highlighted the centuries-old friendship, historical cultural relations, and people-to-people contacts between Bangladesh and Iran.
Speaker Hafizuddin Ahmed praised Speaker Ghalibaf’s constructive role in implementing the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States.
He expressed hope that this initiative will help establish lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in Iran and the entire region.
