o ensure that the excitement of fans over the victory or defeat of the World Cup does not turn into deadly clashes, police stations and Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) will conduct special surveillance at places where games are watched on big screens in various neighborhoods and public gathering places in the capital.
DB Additional Police Commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam gave this information at a press conference at the DMP Media Center on Minto Road on Friday (July 3) afternoon.
The press conference was organized after the arrest of those involved in the murder of BNP leader Md. Abul Bashar Badsha in clashes centered on watching the Brazil game and celebrating the victory in the capital.
Md. Shafiqul Islam said that games are watched on big screens in various places in the capital.
We are keeping these places under surveillance. Instructions have been given to all DMP police stations.
Police personnel will be deployed in coordination with the organizers of the games being shown on big screens. The DB will also monitor the situation to ensure that no untoward incident occurs.
