No talks with US in a few days: Iran 2026

Iran has said that there are no plans for any level of talks with the United States in the coming days. Tehran’s current priority is not to negotiate a final agreement, but to ensure the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

On Monday, Ismail Baghai, a spokesman for the country’s foreign ministry and a member of the negotiating team, said that Iran’s main goal now is to implement various clauses of the memorandum of understanding and enforce its demands under it, according to state media Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

Baghai said the United States has already issued the necessary authorizations under Article 10 regarding oil sales and Iran is following their implementation process.

He also said that the implementation of Article 11, which relates to the release of Iran’s seized assets, is also being taken forward.

An Iranian expert delegation will visit Doha later this week to advance work on this issue.
According to Baghai, Iran and the United States have not yet entered the stage of negotiating a final agreement.

According to Article 13 of the Memorandum of Understanding, negotiations on a final agreement can only begin after the implementation of Articles 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11 has begun. Currently, work on implementing these articles is ongoing.
He also said that the visit of a US delegation to Qatar has nothing to do with the visit of the Iranian delegation. The purpose of Iran’s visit is only to monitor the progress of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, especially the activities of Article 11.
