Strict measures to prevent irregularities in education sector: Minister

Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that strict action will continue to be taken against those involved in preventing irregularities in the education sector.

He made this statement in a written reply to a question from MP Md. Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas during the question-and-answer session of the National Assembly on Thursday (April 23).

Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram presided over the session.
The Education Minister said that the Directorate of Inspection and Audit (DIA) under the Ministry of Education regularly conducts inspection and audit activities regarding irregularities in the country’s education sector.

These activities conducted at different times have revealed various irregularities, including the appointment of teachers and employees with fake and forged certificates.
He said the government has already taken necessary measures against these irregularities.

Based on the reports of the Directorate of Inspection and Audit from 2014 to 2019, action has been taken against a total of 202 college-level lecturers on charges of fake and forged certificates on the instructions of the Ministry of Education.
Of these, the salaries and allowances of 74 teachers under MPO have been suspended from July 2023, and departmental action has been taken by the concerned governing body against the remaining 128 lecturers without MPO.

The Education Minister also said that strict action will continue to be taken against those involved to prevent such irregularities in the future.
