Sources claim that two prominent people from Sylhet are on the list of people under the Prime Minister’s consideration.
They are Dr. Mohammad Faiz Uddin, an expert on central and local government systems in Britain, and Mahidur Rahman, former president of the UK BNP. While Mahidur Rahman is a familiar face in BNP politics, Dr. Faiz Uddin is relatively a backstage person.
According to sources, after starting his career as a banker in Bangladesh, Dr. Faiz Uddin migrated to the UK in the 1980s. He later joined the Birmingham City Council.
For three decades, he served in important positions in various departments related to central government, local government, police administration, finance and education. He also played a role in various initiatives related to the interests of the Bangladeshi community living in greater Birmingham.
