Accused acquitted one and a half years after death

A year and a half after his death, government official Enayet Karim was acquitted by a trial court in a 1994 case in May of this year.

The High Court says that if the appellant had been alive, he would have been entitled to an honorable acquittal.

On August 31, 1994, a case was filed at Khulna’s Daulatpur Police Station against Deputy Food Inspector Md. Zahiduzzaman and Food Inspector Enayet Karim. During his tenure as Deputy Food Inspector and Government Food Warehouse in 1993-1994, Zahiduzzaman was responsible for the custody, storage and distribution of government wheat.
