The current representative government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is giving utmost importance to changing the living standards of hardworking people through labor-friendly policies and expanding employment, said Prime Minister’s Advisor Mahdi Amin. He made these remarks as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of May Day at the China Friendship Conference Center in the capital on Friday morning.
Mahdi Amin mentioned in his speech that the current administration is working tirelessly to improve the safety and quality of life of every worker. He expressed hope that the goal of building a prosperous Bangladesh in the future will be ensured by creating a skilled workforce and ensuring a safe workplace. Highlighting the importance of workers, the advisor said, “Working people are the main driving force for the development, prosperity and progress of any country in the world. Industry, agriculture, infrastructure and a strong economic base are built on the relentless efforts of workers. Therefore, improving their quality of life, ensuring fair rights, establishing a safe working environment and social dignity—these are the priorities of any democratic, responsible government.”
Praising the current political and parliamentary environment of the country, Mahdi Amin said that the reflection of people’s empowerment is visible at every level. He said, “The vibrancy that we saw in the first session of the parliament, the in-depth discussion on the problems of the people, and the collective position of everyone on the issue of free speech and human rights are the symbols of people’s empowerment. This is our promise that the current government will continue this positive trend and groundbreaking steps under the leadership of the Prime Minister in the coming days as well. In this continuity, through the utmost sincerity and responsibility of the government, on the one hand, women will be empowered, youth will be empowered, and on the other hand, the highest institutional and policy priority will be given to the empowerment of workers.”
